Director, Peter Rhoads At the age of 10, Peter Rhoads won the prestigious “Von Buren” award for excellence in fine arts at the Shipley School. This award took the notice of the Welsh painter, Janet Reed, spurring an apprenticeship that lasted close to a decade. Upon entering high-school, Rhoads won the congressional art award for his Chiaro-Scuro drawings. It was not long before Rhoads changed his primary medium to film, but not before winning the prestigious “Flavel Sweeten Luther award” for a graphite rendering at Trinity College. Rhoads began his film studies first in Australia, at Sydney’s University of New South Wales, and completed them at Trinity College in Connecticut. After moving to New York in 1997, Rhoads attended the International Center of Photography. Upon completion, he moved to Milan, Italy, returning to the United States in January of 2001. Moving to Los Angeles in March, Rhoads worked in the camera department under Cinematographer Jonathan Brown. It was on the set of Universal Studios’ “Big Fat Liar,” (2002) that Rhoads met Director Shawn Levy. Shortly after, Rhoads began a yearlong apprenticeship under the Director. This collaboration continued through the Fox Studio film, “Just Married,” (2003). In 2002, Mr. Rhoads formed Signal H Films. Under this banner he directed the short film “Patching Cabbage.” Lead Actress, Amanda Detmer California native Amanda Detmer made her debut in the TV-movie "Stolen Innocence" (CBS) in 1995. A local girl (the project was lensed in her native Chico), Detmer impressed with a featured role in the telepic, but resumed her education, earning her BA and later her MFA in theater from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. In 1998 she spent a summer on stage in Minneapolis and that same year lensed a starring role in the mystical independent drama "Last Seen." 1999 saw the actress make her big screen debut playing Miss Minneapolis in the Minnesota beauty pageant-set comedy "Drop Dead Gorgeous". Television work in the NBC miniseries "To Serve and Protect" (NBC) and the very short-lived series "Ryan Caulfield: Year One" (Fox) put her among fictional police that same year. Detmer made greater strides in 2000, with a featured role in the ensemble of the teen thriller "Final Destination." Playing Terry, the agreeable girlfriend of thickheaded jock Carter (Kerr Smith) offered her increased visibility and the chance to suffer what may be the most genuinely startling demise in the contemporary spate of teen scream films. While her character would no doubt stay down, Detmer saw her profile continue to rise that year, starring as an understanding and upbeat teacher with a regular role on Don Roos' edgy comedy "M.Y.O.B." (NBC) and taking on a co-starring role alongside Claire Forlani, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jason Biggs in Robert Iscove's college-set romantic comedy "Boys and Girls." In 2001, she again teamed up with "Boys and Girls" co-star Jason Biggs in "Saving Silverman," and played Sarah Parker in "A Little Inside." To finish off the year, Ms. Detmer starred in "The Majestic" with Jim Carrey, and “Big Fat Liar” with Paul Giamatti. Ms. Detmer can now be seen on the NBC sitcom A-USA. Cinematographer, Jonathan Brown In, 1995, Philadelphia native Jonathan Brown made his debut on the ensemble piece “Four Rooms”(1995) as the steadycam operator. In the seven years he has been shooting, Mr. Brown has quickly risen to the top of his profession. Before he moved on to camera operating Brown worked Steadycam on “Slingblade”(1996). Mr. Brown used his experience as Camera Operator on “Gattaca” (1997) with Slawomir Idziak, “Bullworth”(1998) with Vittorio Stororo, and “Civil Action”(1998) with Conrad Hall to become a Director of Photography in 1999. Brown shot 3 movies before lensing second unit under William A. Fraker on “Waking up in Reno” (2000) and Bob Richardson on “The Four Feathers”(2002). Brown followed up “Four Feathers” with Universal Studios’ “Big Fat Liar”(2002), and recently completed “Just Married”(2003) for Fox. |
